General Function: Plans, produces and monitors all functions of marketing and communications to leverage the strengths of each and produce the greatest return on investment for Humane Pennsylvania and its partner organizations. Demonstrates an understanding of how marketing and development work together to achieve results.

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree and at least seven years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job, as listed below. Must demonstrate creativity and a working knowledge of public relations, public speaking, media relations, web design, graphic design, social media, advertising, business development, and retail promotion. A strong sense of initiative and ownership of work, in addition to strategic, analytical, and organizational skills are required.

Primary Relationships: This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer and serves as a part of the senior management team. Within the agency, the position has primary relationships with the management team and other staff as needed. Outside the agency, the position coordinates with media contacts, vendors, and volunteers.

Performance Expectations: This position is responsible for building relationships with Humane Pennsylvania’s stakeholders. The individual is expected to be a high-level communicator with a strong background in marketing and communications. The individual in this position is expected to:

  • Convey a professional and positive image and attitude regarding the organization
  • Demonstrate commitment and initiative to continued professional growth and development
  • Exhibit initiative and work as a team player

 Nature and Scope of Position:

  • Collaborates with the advancement team to plan and accomplish fundraising goals
  • Develops innovative, cost-effective marketing plans for assigned projects
  • Enhances Humane Pennsylvania’s image and position with its stakeholders through various forms of media
  • Ensures that Humane Pennsylvania regularly conducts relevant market research and monitors trends
  • Pursues media interest in Humane Pennsylvania, provides regular contact with target media and appropriate responses to media requests
  • Coordinates the appearance and branding of all Humane Pennsylvania print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
  • Keeps informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications, public relations, and animal welfare and uses this information to help Humane Pennsylvania operate with initiative and innovation
  • Performs assigned marketing duties including, but not limited to, advertising, marketing, media relations, production, print management/production, public relations, business development, retail promotion, social media, and website management

The Humane Veterinary Hospital Reading, Reading PA, is seeking a veterinary technician with excellent small animal care and customer service skills to join the expanding veterinary practice of our award-winning animal welfare organization. Applicants must enjoy working independently, have a friendly personality and superior animal care skills. Saturdays and evening availability a must. Experience required in taking patient history, animal restraint, surgical prep of animals, anesthesia monitoring, x-rays, laboratory testing, sterilization of surgical instruments, medication dosage and administration, venipuncture and catheter placement, laboratory testing and preparation. Excellent client education and customer service skills a must. Spanish speaking a plus!

The Humane League of Lancaster County is seeking a full-time Animal Care Technician with excellent animal care and customer service skills to join our team. Weekend and evening hours will be expected. Bilingual abilities are a plus! Applicants must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and must be comfortable handing a variety of domesticated animals. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of animal housing and the general facility, feeding our animals providing them with adequate exercise and enrichment, assessing behavior, and administering vaccines and medications as directed. Other duties of this position will include interaction with the public to provide education and information about the programs and policies of the organization. Applicants must be able to take initiative, have a friendly personality, and work well as part of a team. Prior animal care experience in a professional setting strongly preferred.
