Humane Pennsylvania is making sure that no pet in Berks or Lancaster County ever goes hungry, and that no one ever has to make the heartbreaking decision to give up their pet because they can’t provide basic care.
Offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 1:45 PM to 6:15 PM, at the Giorgi Family Community Resource Center, located at 1350 Schuylkill Ave., Reading, PA 19601.
Your experience/qualifications include:
- Ability to lift bags of pet food
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Reliable transportation to and from the Community Resource Center
- Bilingual skills desired but not required
- Must be over the age of 18 to volunteer unaccompanied (Teens between the ages of 14 and 17, must volunteer under the supervision of a parent/guardian at all times, OR they may volunteer without adult supervision at the discretion of Humane Pennsylvania staff following an initial training assessment with a parent/guardian present. - Be sure to remember your login information – you will use this continuously while volunteering to sign up for shifts and log hours.
- Sign the digital Volunteer Handbook on MyImpact
- Wait for your application to be approved; applications typically take 1-3 business days to be reviewed.
- Download the MyImpact app on your mobile device.
- Online Learning – Complete your online learning modules from home via MyImpact and then schedule your initial training session. Every opportunity requires at least one online reading.
- In-person training – new volunteers complete an initial in-person training, provided by one of our HPA Staff or Veteran Volunteers.
- Start volunteering!
