Free-roaming and feral cats, also called community cats, have different needs and issues than traditional house cats. Humane Pennsylvania provides support to caregivers of community cats through our Bottle Baby Kitten Kits, Spike’s Pet Food Pantry and expert guidance and local resources to accomplish Trap/Neuter/Return (TNR). TNR is the universally accepted, scientifically proven way to humanely reduce the outside cat population with long-term results, thus reducing complaints and euthanasia of cats in shelters.

BOTTLE BABY KITTEN KIT PROGRAM
The Bottle Baby Kitten Kit Program was developed to provide resources to those that are caring for orphaned kittens that are too young to be adopted. Young kittens that are separated from their mother sadly are unlikely to survive on their own without assistance.
As part of Humane Pennsylvania’s Bottle Baby Kitten Kit Program, we offer care takers of unweaned kittens a helpful kitten kit. This kit comes complete with a booklet as a reference guide to the appropriate care of bottle baby kittens. In this booklet you will find useful instructions and techniques on how to properly nurse, bath, and care for bottle baby kittens.
Each Bottle Baby Kitten Kit includes: Bottle Baby Kitten Kit Booklet; Kitten Nursing Bottle, Nipple, and 2 Feeding Syringes; (1) 6 oz. can of Kitten Milk Replacer (powder); (1) 3 oz. can of Kitten Wet Food; 1 Rice Sock; and 1 Kitten Blanket.
This free Bottle Baby Kitten Kit is available to community members that are seeking insights for how to best nurse and care for unweaned kittens. Please note, the booklet is only a basic guide. It does not and is not intended to address every possible care need for bottle baby kittens. If you have any concerns with the kittens in your care, please immediately consult a veterinary health care provider for assistance.

WORKING CATS – ALTERNATIVE ADOPTION & PLACEMENT PROGRAM
Some cats find themselves at our shelter or other extreme situations where they cannot survive, nor do they thrive indoors, in confined spaces and near people. These cats need alternative placement as a “working cat”, where they can live outdoors, given food, water and shelter in a supervised environment and with little to no physical contact with people. We respect all cats, even if they can’t be cuddled.
Humane Pennsylvania is currently seeking placement families and partners for these under-socialized, but otherwise healthy cats who deserve to live. In return for offering them a safe location, these sterilized and vaccinated cats can provide natural, pesticide-free rodent control as well as companionship to humans and other animals. Our experts will provide you with complete support during the cat’s transition period and long-term management in this win-win solution!
Working cats aren’t just for barns…they also thrive in garages, sheds, greenhouses, wineries, warehouses, corporate centers and college campuses. If you’d like to help us grow this life-saving program with a placement opportunity on your property, we would love to hear from you!
