Pay-What-You-Can Neighborhood Clinics (PWYC Clinics) allow pet caretakers to obtain lifesaving vaccines, limited wellness care, and microchip identification and pay whatever they can – all, some, or nothing – based on what they can afford.
Offered Wednesdays from 2:45 PM – 7:30 PM at various locations throughout Reading and Lancaster. Click here to see an updated list of upcoming clinics.
Your experience/qualifications include:
- Knowledge of basic animal behavior and handling
- Basic customer service skills
- Reliable transportation to and from PWYC clinics
- Bilingual skills desired but not required
- Must be over the age of 18
Application Process:
Volunteer applications are typically reviewed within one week of applying.

- Be sure to remember your login information – you will use this continuously while volunteering to sign up for shifts and log hours.
- Sign the digital Volunteer Handbook on MyImpact
- Wait for your application to be approved; applications typically take 1-3 business days to be reviewed.
- Download the MyImpact app on your mobile device.
- Online Learning – Complete your online learning modules from home via MyImpact and then schedule your initial training session. Every opportunity requires at least one online reading.
- In-person training – new volunteers complete an initial in-person training, provided by one of our HPA Staff or Veteran Volunteers.
- Start volunteering!
