Spike’s Pet Pantry, No Pet Hungry – now more than ever.

COVID-19 Update: Spike’s Pet Pantry is still open for existing, as well as new clients! And our Berks CART has been activated to mobilize emergency supplies of pet food. We are working with multiple municipal and private agencies to identify where pet food is needed and can be distributed. Together, we hope that these resources will help pet owners in our community through this unusual time.

Update for Berks County Residents – Stop by our Humane Pennsylvania Community Resource Center (CRC) at 1350 Schuylkill Avenue, Reading, PA 19601 on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 2-6 PM. Please check this page before going to the CRC, as hours may change due to staff availability). When you arrive, please read the messaging on our door — we are asking clients to remain outside and follow the posted instructions to preserve social distancing.

For Berks residents who belong to human food pantries, you may still be able to access pet food at the same pick up as your human food, as we currently partner with Helping Harvest to ensure all of their local food partners have access to donated pet food. Please check your local pantry for updated information on their scheduling.

Update Lancaster County Residents – Call (717)393-6551 to schedule an appointment to pick up your food. Once schedule, your pet food will be placed outside our front door at the specified time. It will be easy for curbside pick-up and labeled with your name.
We’re accepting new clients in Lancaster as well; if you find yourself in need of pet food, please email us at spikespetpantrylancaster@humanepa.org to enroll in the program.
For clients who utilize the human food pantry of with Solanco Neighborhood Ministries at 355 Buck Road, Quarryville, PA 17566, you may still be able to access pet food at their center. Please check their schedule for updates.

Spike’s Pet Pantry is making sure that no pet in Berks or Lancaster County ever goes hungry, and that no one ever has to make the heartbreaking decision to give up their pet because they can’t provide basic care. To do that, we make pet food available to every Berks and Lancaster County resident, regardless of income or economic status – if you need food for your pet, we are here to help!

Spike’s Pet Pantry serves pet owners in need in two ways: by ensuring that local human food pantries have access to pet food to meet pet-owning clients’ needs and by operating pantry locations at our Humane Pennsylvania Community Resource Center and at Humane League of Lancaster County.
