Join Humane Pennsylvania in making a pawsitive impact! We’re seeking volunteers at The Thrifty Kitty Thrift Boutique to help with sorting donations and managing the cash register. This is the perfect opportunity for older folks seeking low-impact tasks, those who may be allergic to animals, or anyone who loves thrifting and vintage treasures.
The Thrifty Kitty Thrift Boutique is a unique, vintage-leaning thrift shop and all proceeds directly benefit the animals and programs of Humane Pennsylvania. It’s where second-hand brings second chances for animals in need – volunteer today!
The Thrifty Kitty is open every Thursday-Saturday from 10 AM – 4 PM and is located in the purple building at our Lancaster campus (2195 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster, PA 17602).
Volunteer Requirements:
- You must commit to serve at least two shifts, or six hours, per month.
- Must be over the age of 18 to volunteer unaccompanied.
- Access to email since all volunteer communication is done via email.
- Ability to complete online training courses.
- Reliable transportation to and from The Thrifty Kitty Thrift Boutique
Typical Shift Times:
- 9:45 AM – 1 PM
- 1 PM – 4:15 PM
Volunteers 18 and Older:
Volunteer applications are typically reviewed within one week of applying.

- Be sure to remember your login information – you will use this continuously while volunteering to sign up for shifts and log hours.
- Sign the digital Volunteer Handbook on MyImpact
- Wait for your application to be approved; applications typically take 1-3 business days to be reviewed.
- Download the MyImpact app on your mobile device.
- Online Learning – Complete your online learning modules from home via MyImpact and then schedule your initial training session. Every opportunity requires at least one online reading.
- In-person training – new volunteers complete an initial in-person training, provided by one of our HPA Staff or Veteran Volunteers.
